Henrietta Super 8 Shooting: Man in His 60s Dies After Being Shot by Monroe County Deputies

A man in his 60s died after Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies shot him at a Super 8 motel on Lehigh Station Road in Henrietta, New York, according to authorities.

The incident began around 3:53 p.m. when 911 dispatchers received calls reporting a suicidal man at the motel. Deputies arrived at the Super 8 within several minutes and encountered the man armed with a box cutter.

According to Chief Deputy Michael Fowler, the man appeared to be attempting to harm himself when deputies made contact with him.

Fowler said deputies gave the man several commands to drop the weapon. The man reportedly did not comply, after which deputies fired their weapons, striking him.

Despite the shooting, the man did not survive his injuries and was pronounced dead.
