Saint Paul Police Shooting Today – Man Shot by Officers Near Regions Hospital During Domestic Assault Response

SAINT PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) is investigating after Saint Paul police officers were involved in a shooting Monday morning, August 10, 2026, following a reported domestic assault.

According to the Saint Paul Police Department, officers responded at approximately 9:15 a.m. to a domestic assault call in the 400 block of Temperance Street.

When officers arrived, the victim told police that the suspect, an adult male, had fled the area and was armed with a firearm.

Suspect Shot Near Regions Hospital

Saint Paul police officers, assisted by deputies from the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office, located the suspect a short distance away outside Regions Hospital, near the intersection of Jackson Street and East 12th Street.

Police said the man fled from law enforcement during the encounter.

As he ran, authorities said he pulled out what appeared to be a handgun and pointed it toward officers.

A Saint Paul police officer then fired a department-issued firearm, striking the man in the hand and back.

Officers immediately provided medical assistance before the suspect was taken inside Regions Hospital for treatment.

Police said the man’s injuries were not life-threatening.

No Officers or Bystanders Injured

No police officers or bystanders were injured during the incident.

Authorities also said there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

The shooting occurred shortly before 9:30 a.m., according to a subsequent police update.

BCA Investigating

Because the incident involved an officer firing a weapon, Saint Paul police requested that the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension conduct an independent investigation.

Officer body-worn cameras were activated during the incident, and the BCA will review the video along with other evidence gathered as part of the investigation.

The identity of the man who was shot will be released by the BCA at a later time.

The officers involved in the shooting will be placed on administrative leave, which police said is standard procedure following an officer-involved shooting.
