Lamar County Shooting – Keith Odel Arrested After Allegedly Firing at Passing Vehicle

LAMAR COUNTY, Ga. — Deputies have arrested a 26-year-old man following a reported shooting incident on Lamar County Line Road, according to the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies from the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office and Spalding County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the area of 130 Lamar County Line Road after receiving a report of shots fired.

According to the initial report, a man was driving along Lamar County Line Road near the residence when he encountered a white male who was reportedly acting erratically and carrying a handgun.

The armed individual allegedly fired multiple rounds at the passing vehicle.

The driver was able to leave the area and was not injured, according to authorities.

Arrest Made

Deputies from Lamar and Spalding counties responded to the scene and took Keith Odel, 26, of 130 Lamar County Line Road, into custody without further incident.

Odel was transported to the Lamar County Jail, where he is being held in connection with the reported shooting.

Authorities said he faces the following charges:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime
  • Damage to Property

The Sheriff’s Office did not provide additional details about the alleged damage or the circumstances that preceded the reported shooting.

Investigation Continues

The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office thanked deputies and personnel from both agencies for their response and for helping bring the incident to a safe resolution.

No injuries to the driver were reported in connection with the shooting.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information may be released as authorities continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the incident.

All charges against Keith Odel are allegations. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
